Okay I did it. I bought a pretty dress that was way to young for me…

It wasn’t a cheap dress either. Why oh why did I do that? What was I thinking as I’ve now wasted a couple of hundred bucks? When I put it on, I just feel silly.

In my 40s I really started to think about what I should wear. I remember reading that women over 40 shouldn’t wear dresses/skirts above the knee. Apparently, our knees start to look a bit knobbly. I took a good look at mine and thought, they look okay to me. But I did adjust my skirt length accordingly and looked critically at other 40 + women thinking, don’t show those knobbly knees.

There’s lots of advice out there on what we should be wearing no matter what age we are. I’m now in my 50s and thought I’d look at some googled advice on what we should and shouldn’t wear.

  1. Choose small prints that work in your favor

I’m just casting my mind over my wardrobe and think I may have this one covered although I have a gorgeous skirt I bought in the UK that is not a small print and I love it. It’s also had some compliments so I think I’m okay to keep wearing it.

2. Leggings are for the gym

Oops, that’s a fail from me. I live in my Lulu Lemons, especially when we were all at home during the lockdown. I also had major surgery and…
